## Making equivalent fractions

Fractions Lab helps students to learn about multiplicative structures as they make equivalent fractions. Learn how the equivalent fractions tool creates equivalent fractions in this short guide.

### 1. Right click on any representation

This will bring up the actions menu

### 2. Select 'Find equivalent'

This will create a copy of your fraction with a number on the side that indicates the number of times it has been portioned.

### 3. Use the arrows to change the numerator and denominator

This forms an equivalent fraction in different ways according to which representation is used. Rectangles are partitioned in a perpendicular fashion. Number lines and jugs are partitioned between their scales. Sets are duplicated.
